"Rule of 5"- UMvC3 Metagaming
So new blog update I decided that i wouldnt bother creating blog posts talking about old game strategy that someone else created, i would create my own stuff and apply them, this is quite a slow process as it takes time to get that spark to create something let alone whether its actually useful or not. Alas i have created something on my own, which was inspired by soul searching for a new team and playing C.Viper last few weeks.
i recently came up with a concept of UMVC3.speaking with a few higher authority forum monsters about metagaming (level 3+) after what started of a semi serious troll joke on the topic off assists and picking mutliple characters; a team of 5 in a 3 man game. It all started to come together.
Rather than necessarily come up with something new I transferred some of my card game prowess to marvel, poker thinking and yugioh mechanics work so well together since they all basically work of the microcosm of decision making. This is quite elaborate and yet to be refined by me as this is all worked off in my mind.
Quick overview-(skip if you know how to play yugioh if not go ahead!)
I basically asked myself at every situation i come to ingame what in yugioh can i apply here?
~so in yugioh you have a deck of at least 40 cards which is ur main deck(kinda like ur point character in mvc3) other than that there's a little part called the side deck made of up to 15 cards(sounding like assists to you) which u can interchanged between the deck as long as u replace what u take out of the main deck
-(So if you add 5 cards from the side deck to the main deck you must remove 5 cards of your choice from the main deck to the side deck so the numbers are always balanced)-
in a set of 3 duels to help with matchups x y z, With all the tierlists poppin up I took a different interpretation of it with people doing "team" and "single" character tierlists I went inbetween that and found a balance by creating teams of 2.
So this brings me to the main writeup now you are educated-
This is the c&p of what I sent to my SYN Gwam and Kyzertron "But yeah basically I was thinking about mvc3 and that idea I had about 5 characters obvs sounded dumb at the time but made more sense as I thought about it, so I think you can agree no 3 chars are perfect together even with ur soul searching. Then I thought back to how this applied to yugioh and it was the same thing but it had side decking so how can one side deck in mvc3?..with pocket chars so I looked around for examples and cheech, kyzer now and vanilla, f champ and jwong are good examples, so I've basically broken it down to play a shell of 2 team and mix and match depending on matchups, only drawback is the time consumption of learning 5 different chars and possibly different team combos but once done it should be perfect and make everyone u play at least improved or favourable for u. And I think that this kind of metagaming will help improve you as a player and see things on another level(third eye lol) as you gotta think about different things more advanced levels than willy nilly matchups which are basic at best, what i feel is the best selling point of this advantage is no opponent will be ready and even if they are you are favourably positioning yourself to against their team composition. Since u play yugioh and watched a lot of f champ nd cheech to an extent I think ud understand best at least"
Thats all from me for now ill see what i can think up in the upcoming weeks and give more writeups!
Peace out stay frosty.
