Origin: About Myself

Well a few will be wondering who I am, know by a few different names depending on which community you know me from(3dgod-poker, Psynapse-yugioh/pkmn, LevelLouie- fighting games or just louiebh from forum life). So im going to kick this off with my story how I got here and why I do this and from there go ahead kinda explaining some concepts I have trying to make myself think critically and from there go ahead and level up my game in a different way from usual and document it to boot.
So let me get into this, at the time of writing this im 19 years old been playing video games for as long as I can remember and loved them as such it was something I could sink soo many hours into and would take any chance I could to do it and my escape from normal reality. My mum was pretty strict when it came to gaming so she kept it to a minimal as much as possible e.g weekends only etc but I did my best to sneak extra time in with my bro whenever I could lol.
I wasnt balling either so I wasnt blessed with the top dog systems back in the day like most I only had a gameboy or the option of going to my friends house for tomb raider and fifa 98 games getting stuck on a level and never knowing how to complete it because using the web was scarce and never came to my mind lol. Playing against friends was the beginning into me becoming competitive but mine is kinda different from your typical player, I was happy to just play it was where I had the most fun and winning although it was my aim was not necessarily my priority. So losing as such never even bothered me, I think it came down to the kind of person I am.
My mum had a funny thing of taking us on trips a lot so I found myself travelling to new places loads when I was younger. What this did for my gaming was it took me to loads of different countries and meet opposition. As you find when your young and you travel a lot you end up at home doing nothing till your parents take you out, this was quite the case when I was in Maryland and New York it was such a big city this was around 2000 or so. All of our UK consoles wouldnt work in america with american games which sucked balls and we didnt even have a stepdown lol and I was pretty young so a lot of my time my mum would take me and my brother to the shopping malls and sit us at one place whilst she shopped, and that was where I would be able to get my fill of ggs at the random arcade cabinets situated around the mall.
I believe the games on the cabs were alpha 3 and marvel super heroes vs streetfighter I defo remember marvel vs super heroes definitely and I constantly played vs cpu and the occasional opponent who would pass thru, playing competition was something else and soo fun being in the moment so that was what made fighters special for me, I was by no means any good at them but after mashing for a while and my arms aching it lead me to start to wonder what was I doing?
When competitive gaming really kicked off for me was when I was in holiday in ghana and I couldnt get any cables ready for my playstation 1 my mum bought me to work on an ancient tv(yes you know my pain lol that scart lead etc shebazz) eventually my mum found a local boy who had a solution to fix my problem he borrowed some games (ended up only playing msvsf) and cables from a game centre(equivalent of a home made arcade with consoles) (a cross between these two lol not as bad though)
for the day for a cost I got my fill of ggs and end of the day I had to pay for renting it. After doing this a few times my mum refused(boo) and I had to find a work around as usual being broke, why not go to the place where the games were lol? Ended up there they were usually sheds with electricity being funneled away from someones house and shit loads of games consoles and there were soo many games available, all the wrestling games, racing, fighting, sports (pro fifa hockey eyc) everything but for a price obvs I had enough dough on me and sat down and played either sf ex 1 2 or 3 one of the ps2 versions and had the time of my life lol when I was done I racked up an overdraft charge which my mum had to go and pay as they charged me per game I played so beating cpu was working out like £1 each in terms of value so my mum wasnt pleased lol. So I found some of my time at a local ice cream parlour on one random cabinet playing some wacky fighter or the game centres with friends, I enjoyed just exploring the game trying different things as you do when ur bored working out how to do commands etc I remember there not being a command list so it was even more fufilling working things out. That pretty much sums up how I got started in fighting games eventually as a stuck around playing other games cvs2 and smash bros on my gamecube, I was like 15 in 2007 and moved schools in london I met a friend (Chuck or Levellawrence) who was a real fighting game fan and was playing st before the advent of streetfighter 4 and slowly mentored me pretty much explaining concepts like zoning and rushdown etc and it made the game sound amazing and far deeper than I ever knew from then I became a part of the scene with sf4 coming about I didnt play but I kept tabs and watched evo 2009 and attended svb 2009 where I met faces like B.H.D (Deejay), Prodigal Son (Ryan Hart) and some smash bros players like Fuzzy and learned there was a real scene so I jumped straight in, eventually Gamerbase became the place for sessions and I started playing ssf4 and mvc3 and the scene found a new home instead of goodge street casino or picadilly sega world which was the only places for arcade gaming in the olden days.
So that pretty much sums up my fighting game history where its taken me where ive been and where ive come from!
